This is it, the final day of the month and year. Though there are a few hours left to read, I am going to share the books I have read this month. To be perfectly honest, I know I won’t finish another book before the month ends. Despite being distracted by the holidays and my many goals, I actually got a decent amount of reading done. True, I wish I had have read more, but I am very happy with how much I got done. December in books is the twelfth installment of my ongoing series which highlights the books I read in a month.Read More →

Books are one of my favorite gifts to give and receive. In fact, most years when anyone asks me what I want, whether it’s for the holidays or my birthday, the immediate answer I give is books. Whether it’s graphic novels, non-fiction tomes, quick to read middle-grade or high fantasy, there are books for everyone. Though I have cut back on buying books, mostly so that I can tackle my large, yet ever-shrinking TBR, there are plenty of books I still want to own and read. This week’s Top Ten Tuesday topic is books I hope to find under my tree. Top Ten Tuesday isRead More →

Winter has been around for a while now, despite what the calendars say. Winter is one of the best times to read, especially since it’s often too cold to go outside. So why not curl up with a good book or two? Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly bookish post run by That Artsy Reader Girl. This week’s topic: books on my winter TBR. I don’t tend to stick to TBR piles, though I do pick out books I want to read on a monthly basis. Truth is, I do my best to read what I pick out, but sometimes you just need to pickRead More →

November had come and gone. That month really flew by, but that often happens as the end of the year approaches. Despite a large number of distractions this month, and not reading many days, I did manage to get a decent amount of reading done. With every book that I read, my enormous TBR shrinks just a bit more. November in books in the eleventh installment of my ongoing series highlighting the books that I read in a month. There was a time when I would read books as fast as I bought, sometimes even faster. This was many years ago when a TBR didn’t exist to me because I devoured books so quickly. Then I began to follow that dangerous and alluring reader path that pits TBR against reader – and the TBR more often than not wins. It’s the point when a reader buys books in vast quantities knowing they likely will never read them all, but they swear that they will one day. While I did go through that suffocating stage of feeling like my TBR would forever win, I haveRead More →

There have been a number of changes in my reading life over the years. For as long as I can remember, I have been a reader. Books are my happy place, an escape from reality and one of the best ways to entertain myself. They allow me to learn and experience wondrous stories. Yet I don’t read the same way I used to as a child or even during my teenage years. Today I will highlight all of the changes that have occurred with my reading habits. October’s reading time has come to an end. There is something about the cooler weather that just makes me want to curl up with a good book. In fact, I spent a pretty good amount of time this month reading. While not my strongest reading month, I did get through quite a few books. My daily reading time, plus tossing in extra time when a book demands my full attention is a big contributor to putting a big dent in my enormous TBR. For as long as I can remember, I have loved to read books. Many hours were spent in the library picking out which books I wanted to read next. As a child, I read books as fast as I could get my hands on them. Though my love of reading has not diminished, I no longer can read as quickly as before. This is likely because the books I read now are a bit longer and not as easy to read. This has led me to have a huge TBR, but I’m working on that. Sometimes, I think about the books that I loved whenRead More →

Septembers reading time has come to an end. The past couple of months have been a struggle reading-wise. However, in September I was finally able to get back into a good reading rhythm. Sticking to a daily reading schedule, and adding in some extra time on certain days really helped. Because of this, I was able to put a nice little dent in my enormous TBR. Of course, I also added to that TBR because of a visit to my favorite used book store. September in books is the ninth installment in my ongoing series highlighting what I read each month.
