November 2022 Bokksu – Autumn Kouyou

Bokksu has quickly become my favorite subscription service and I always look forward to the latest Bokksu each month. Bokksu is a monthly subscription service that sends a box filled with traditional Japanese snacks. Every month focuses on a different theme and highlights various regions and snack makers throughout Japan. Some of these businesses have been running for over 100 years! The theme of the November 2022 Bokksu is Autumn Kouyou. Kouyou is the shift into autumn colors on the trees, a sign that autumn has arrived. With it, comes the seasonal autumn snacks.

November 2022 Bokksu – Autumn Kouyou

Black Sesame Wafer

These went straight to my husband because I really do not like the taste of black sesame. His opinion was: “If it’s possible for wafers to have a plain flavor, this is it.” I guess the black sesame flavor was lacking, but he ate them anyway.

Iburigakko Smokey Chips

So dang good. A nice smoky flavor that makes you think of barbeque, however, it’s not like barbeque chips. Honestly, the flavor is hard to describe but I will say, that if I could get another bag of these I would be very happy.

Honoka Dainagon Red Bean Manju

I wasn’t the biggest fan of this one. Red bean is not a flavor I enjoy.

Wa Japanese Financier Yuzu

I enjoyed this cake a lot. The lemony flavor paired well with the cake base. The cake itself was soft and moist. If I didn’t know any better, I would have said it was freshly baked it was that soft.

Salted Azuki Mochi Gummy

A little odd but then again I find azuki to be hit or miss.

Butter Mochi Senbei

I had these back in July 2021 and absolutely loved them, so I was excited to see them again. They were as delicious as the first time. My only complaint is that two were not enough to satisfy my craving once I started eating them.

Yaki-Imo Sweet Potato Cookie

This one had a light sweet potato flavor but otherwise didn’t stand out from any of the other cookies. A decent snack but could have used more flavor.

Earl Grey Hojicha Tea

As far as tea goes, it was okay. Then again, I’m not much of a tea person, so it’s hard to judge.

Country Ma’am Benitenshi Sweet Potato

I have had a few Country Ma’am cookies in the past and enjoyed all them of. I liked this one quite a bit. I honestly would have never guessed that it had sweet potato in it but certainly enjoyed both cookies that were included in the box.

Hokkaido Jaga Spicy Stew Flavor

These ones were quite spicy, in fact, they were too spicy for me. However, the flavor that did come threw was good. It did have that distinct stew smell to it. I gave most of these to my husband who loves spicy food and he enjoyed them.

Mikan Mochi

I saved these for last. I’ve had mikan mochi in the past and absolutely love it, so I knew this one would be great. These mochi were a bit different than previous versions, a little less sweet and not as juicy but still oh so good. I’m glad I ate these last. and that there were so many in the package.

Otona no Curry Senbei

While this snack didn’t have a ton of flavor, I did enjoy it. The mild curry flavor along with the crunch of the senbei made it enjoyable.

Koisuru Langue De Chat: Yame Matcha

These cookies were fantastic. I’m slowly becoming addicted to matcha-flavored snacks thanks to Bokksu. I was glad there were two of these because one would not have been enough.

Chirancha Green Tea Chocolate Crunch

I didn’t like this one at all. It tasted wrong. I thought it would be similar to the Hojicha Crunch Chocolate included in the October 2022 Bokksu, but I was wrong.

I hope you enjoyed my review of the November 2022 Bokksu. Have you tried Bokksu?
