The second week of NaNoWriMo has come to an end. The path to 50,000 words is nearly half over. This means, that if you are on track, you should have written 23,338 words so far! Even if you haven’t reached that point yet, I want to say you are doing a great job! Keep writing and you will get there. The second week of NaNoWriMo tends to be fairly smooth for writers, as they have hit the writing rhythms. Let’s all take a moment to relax, stretch out our fingers, get a drink and check to see how NaNoWriMo 2019 Week 2 treated us.
Much like with week 1, I will be breaking down my progress for each day this week.
NaNoWriMo 2019 Week 2
My second worst writing day so far. Sometimes, your characters will misbehave, your plot will disappear and everything just doesn’t work. That was exactly how this day went. I kept trying to make things work and it just wasn’t happening. I did manage to write 1744 words this day, but I doubt most of them will survive the editing process when I reach that.
Bouncing back from a less than stellar writing day, things were progressing well again. After having a fight with my characters and plot the previous day, they were now eager to work with me. This results in 4357 words being written.
Every now and then, the words flow so well that they pile up into a mountain in no time. When I sat down to write this day I never expected to get so much done. I lost track of the number of hours I was writing because the words demanded my full attention. By participating in plenty of writing sprints I was able to add a whopping 12398 words this day! I still can’t believe it. I often have a 10k day during NaNoWriMo but this one blew it out of the water.
After such a stellar day on day 10, I wasn’t expecting much here. Whenever I have had a really solid day of writing in past NaNoWriMo’s the next day was a bit lackluster. And not surprising given how much had been created. I did feel a bit sluggish this day, but even so, I was able to write 2488 words.
I was feeling much better about writing this day. My writing muse was pretty strong and because of that, I was able to write 5266 words.
And with that, NaNoWriMo victory was mine! 51604 words written.
THE END! Shut the computer down, close those notebooks, it’s time to move on.
Except that it’s not. There is still so much to write for this story. I plan to continue writing throughout the month. I feel like I have only just scratched the surface as far as this novel is concerned.
And here it is, the worst day. I only managed 430 words. However, I did a ton of blog work on this day, including writing three posts. On top of that, I write up about 2000 words worth of notes for the rest of my novel, however, I do not count notes or outlines as part of my word count. Thus the low word count for the day.
It was a bit of a slow start. I have gone so far from my original plan that I don’t even know what to expect when I sit down at the keyboard anymore. However, thanks to the notes that I created yesterday, I have a bit of an idea of what to do. With the help of a few word sprints, I was able to write 4048 words.
My word count total for week 2 is 56082. It’s safe to say that I am extremely happy with this.
So ends NaNoWriMo 2019 Week 2. How are your word counts looking? Remember, even if you are behind, keep writing. Every word matters, they will get you one step closer to reaching your goal. If you want to boost your word count in a fun way, be sure to join the NaNoWord Sprints that run on Twitter.
