The finish line of Camp NaNoWriMo is that much closer now that the fourth week has come to an end. This means it’s time for the Camp NaNoWriMo 2020 week 4 update. While I love writing, it does have its challenges and this month has had plenty. Regardless, I find the challenges push me to become a better writer and to work at overcoming these hurdles. Writing by the seat of my pants is one of the biggest hurdles I have experienced. Yet I am glad that I chose to go this route for this month, as it shook up my normal writing routine.
Camp NaNoWriMo 2020 week 4 update
This day started off a bit slow writing-wise. Weekends are always my busiest days with chores. Even so, I did my best to put in some writing time. I am still struggling to fully connect to the story but I figure that slow and steady progress is better than nothing. It took about 3 hours of writing, but I managed to write 917 words.
Another busy day. It was decent weather-wise, so I decided to get some pre-emptive garden planting done. It’s actually about 2 months too early, but everything has been planted in pots which I can bring inside during the colder days and nights. I felt a bit lost with where the story has gone, and yet despite this, I was able to add 725 words to the project.
A surprisingly easy writing day. This project has been a struggle since day one and more often than not I feel like I am fighting an uphill battle. Today was different. The words flowed fairly freely and in no time at all, I was able to write 957 words.
I was completely distracted by housework this day. I have been in a decluttering and organizing mood lately, so a lot of my time has gone into that. This means that I have to force myself to stop and sit down in order to get writing done. In the end, I wrote 504 words.
I have absolutely no idea what happened this day. This month has had more zero words days that I care to admit. I think part of it is a side effect of writing by the seat of my pants and partially to do with the craziness that is the world right now.
I got the pleasure of experiencing a word avalanche this day. When I sat down to write, I wasn’t expecting much. Yet when my fingers touched the keyboard, words came pouring out and in what felt like the blink of an eye, I had typed up 1905 words. If only all of the previous days had gone so smoothly. I don’t know what was different about this day, but I am super happy with my progress.
Holy cow, did I seriously forget to write again? Why yes, yes I did! In my defense, I did hurt myself this day, so my normal writing time was spent icing and resting my foot. It’s hard to focus on writing when you are dealing with pain and trying to assess the extent of an injury.
After a complete lack of writing yesterday, I wasn’t expecting much. However, I was pleasantly surprised when I was able to quickly get 713 words written. On top of this, I spent a good chunk of the day reading. All in all, it was a pretty good day and allowed my injured foot time to recover.
So ends my Camp NaNoWriMo 2020 week 4 update. My total word count is now at 22,105. Which honestly isn’t bad but isn’t the greatest either. Though I had two days this week without any words added, I have managed to stay ahead of where I need to be, so that makes me happy. How is your Camp NaNoWriMo experience going?
