Camp NaNoWriMo 2020 week 3 update

Another week of writing has come and gone in April’s Camp NaNoWriMo. That means it’s time for the Camp NaNoWriMo 2020 week 3 update. This week wasn’t all that different from the previous two. I did get writing done, but it came with some struggles as well. Life also kept me busy as I have been ensuring the housework doesn’t fall behind and I’ve been getting some long overdue organizing projects done. Not to mention that I have been working on getting a bit of an early start to my garden, so writing hasn’t been my top priority right now. Even so, I am doing my best to sit down and write as much as I can each day so that I can build this story and continue the pantser writing style experiment.

Curious about how the first two weeks went? Check out my week 1 and week 2 updates.

Camp NaNoWriMo 2020 week 3 update

Day 12

This day was absolutely crazy busy. I honestly don’t know how I found the time to write but I did. It’s not a glorious amount but I did add 583 words.

Day 13

I have no idea what happened this day. I thought I wrote, but it turns out that I didn’t. I even double-checked my file to make sure I hadn’t forgotten to update my word count. Sadly, that wasn’t the case and because of this, I had 0 words this day. This day was busy in other areas of my life, so that could be the reason for forgetting to write.

Day 14

Most of this month I have been stumbling around trying to find the few words that spill out. Today was different. Not only did I feel like writing, but I also had a decent amount of inspiration and was able to write 1059 words in a single sitting. After that, the writing tank dried up and I just couldn’t force out another word.

Day 15

Despite what the word count chart says, I did write today. However, I completely forgot to update my word count, so those words show up as part of day 16’s word count total. I did manage to get 833 words. I also managed to name three characters, which is impressive in itself since I always have the hardest time naming characters.

Day 16

Another solid day of writing. I think that introducing a new character helped, even if that character is currently unnamed. Sometimes you just need that small shift away from the main character to renew your writing muse. I was able to write 1065 words this day.

Day 17

This was a dreary weather day and I honestly didn’t feel like doing much. Most of the day was spent watching videos and just lazing about. However, I reminded myself that I had already had two days without writing so far this month, so I forced myself to sit down and write. It took a while, but I was able to add 917 words.

So ends my Camp NaNoWriMo 2020 week 3 update. As you can see, I’m still ahead on my word count but not by a lot. This project is going so much different from my November 2019 NaNoWriMo one. Even so, this write by the seat of my pants experience has taught me some things along the way. Are you doing Camp NaNoWriMo? If so, how is your word count doing?
