Camp NaNoWriMo 2020 week 2 update

The second week of Camp NaNoWriMo has come and gone. The nice thing about Camp NaNoWriMo is you can set whatever word count that you want or you can stick with the usual 50,000 words. With an end goal of 25,000 words, this week should be at 9163 words. Writing is a hobby that I truly enjoy though some months I get more done than others. With 30-day challenges like NaNoWriMo and Camp NaNoWriMo, I get an extra boost to my writing muse – at least most of the time. This Camp NaNoWriMo 2020 week 2 update will show you how I’m doing with my word count and break down the week to see what each day held.

Curious about how the first week went? Check out my week one update!

Camp NaNoWriMo 2020 week 2 update

Day 5

I feel like this is the first day when I really hit my writing stride. Up until now, I’ve been struggling a bit but that is part of going with the pantser route. Every paragraph, every chapter is like exploring the unknown. However, even with these hurdles, I managed to write 3105 words.

Day 6

Another strong day of writing. I figured out a small part of the story and the words flowed freely. Thanks to this I was able to easily write 2147 words.

Day 7

After two solid days of writing and banging out a couple of decent chapters, I hit a bit of a slump. The writing momentum had ebbed and I am once again wondering where this story is going. Even so, I was able to write 305 words.

Day 8

Slowly but surely getting some writing done. Some days this story feels like wandering through an unknown forest desperately searching for those breadcrumbs that will lead me home. It took me most of the day, but I was able to get 403 words written.

Day 9

Guess who forgot to write this day? Yup, I did. Oops!

Day 10

Another light writing day. While I would like to get more done, I’m happy that the words are still flowing, even if it is a trickle instead of a steady flow. This day only saw 311 words added to the total. However, I always also incredibly busy around the house, so while the word count was low, I accomplished a lot, so I’m quite happy with that.

Day 11

Today was a bit better. Once again I am starting to figure things out but it’s slow going. Thanks to this, I was able to quickly write 484 words. This brings my total word count to 11,786.

As you can see from my Camp NaNoWriMo 2020 week 2 update, it was a good week to start with but then it tapered off as the days went. It’s not the worse results, as I’m still ahead on word count by a bit. How has your second week of CampNaNoWriMo gone?

Well done, you’re making amazing progress! I’ve never attempted to write a novel but reading this makes me feel inspired to give it a go. Good luck with the rest of the month!

Thank you. You should give it a try, it can be just as fun as it is challenging.

This is amazing, I’m in awe of you doing this challenge at all! I remember reading something about writing (can’t remember where though), it was that “writing is a muscle that you need to exercise every day.” Sounds like NANOWRIMO is perfect for that! x

You definitely need to exercise your writing muscle just like a regular muscle. If I got a long time without writing I find it hard to get back into it.

That sounds like a fun challenge. I’ve never tried anything like that. Good luck with the writing!
