The leaves are changes, temperatures are dropping and the nights are getting shorter. A sure sign that fall has arrived. Fall is a great time to curl up with a blanket, a cup of something warm and a good book. I love reading no matter what time of year it is. However, I thought it would be fun to share a fall TBR with you. Thanks to Top Ten Tuesday, I can do just that. Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly bookish post run by That Artsy Reader Girl. This weeks theme: books on my fall 2019 TBR. Though a few of these books do have a fall feel to them, overall these are books I want to read during the next few months. Not to mention that every book I read brings me closer to getting through my enormous TBR.
Books on my fall 2019 TBR
Watership Down by Richard Adams
While a story about bunnies doesn’t scream fall, it is such an incredible book. It’s been well over 15 years since I have read Watership Down, so this seems like the perfect time to revisit it. Not to mention, watching the Netflix series a few months back has wanting to dive back into this world.
Witches In Red by Barb Hendee
Fall means Halloween and that makes me think of witches. So naturally, a witch book or two had to slip into this list. I read the first book in this series not long ago and I am ready to continue with it to see where the story goes. While there hasn’t been a ton of witches so far, there is potential for more to appear as the series continues.
Orange by Ichigo Takano
This is a series that I have previously read. However, it’s also a series I want to reread. Considering that a good chunk of this book happens during the beginning of the school year, it feels like the perfect fall read.
Anne of Green Gables by L. M. Montgomery
As a fall loving Canadian, it feels a bit cliche to add this to the list. But how can I not list it? I loved these books when I was younger and I have been wanting to reread them for a while now. Not to mention, this book is one of the first that pops into my mind when I think of fall reading.
Lonesome Dove by Larry McMurtry
This book has been on my TBR forever! I have lost track of the number of times I said: “I will read this book this year no matter what!” Clearly that hasn’t happened yet. So, I am hoping to finally read Lonesome Dove this fall.
Do Not Say We Have Nothing by Madeleine Thien
I know absolutely nothing about this book. Sometimes it’s nice to dive into a book and be completely surprised by the story.
Dead Witch Walking by Kim Harrison
Another witch book. This is a series I started reading a few years back but sadly never finished. I just listened to the prequel novel, so I am eager to get to this one. Though I prefer to read physical books, I have to say, the narrator, Marguerite Gavin, is fantastic and a great reason to listen to the audiobooks.
The Rising of The Sheild Hero by Aneko Yusagi
I’ve been loving this anime ever since it started, but have yet to read the manga or light novel. Though I only have the first light novel in the series, I am eager to read it. I love seeing any differences between anime and their original source material. Plus I just need more Naofumi and Raphtalia in my life.
Wide Open by Larry Bjornson
For some reason, western books make me think of the fall. The image of fall cattle drives pop into my head. Thus the addition of this book. This is another book I know pretty much nothing about, other than it’s a western set in the 1800s. It should be an interesting read.
Howl’s Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones
Since watching the anime movie, I have been meaning to read this book. Yet, it has remained on my shelf unread for many years. It would be nice to get this one during the fall. I am interested to see exactly how similar the two stories are.
Those are the top ten books on my fall 2019 TBR. Do you make seasonal TBRs? What are some books you want to read soon?
