April 2021 Camp NaNoWriMo week 2 update

The second week of Camp NaNoWriMo has come to an end. Writing is a passion that I am working hard to turn into an actual career. That is why I have made this my year of writing. I’m putting more effort than normal into my writing. Part of that is participating in writing challenges, such as Camp NaNoWriMo and NaNoWriMo. Writing on a deadline seems to work best for me, as it adds pressure to sit down and get the words written. Now that another week of writing has gone by it’s time for the April 2021 Camp NaNoWriMo week 2 update. Let’s see how well the writing has gone.

Curious about how the previous week went? Check out my week 1 update.

April 2021 Camp NaNoWriMo week 2 update

Day 4

Yesterday, I made the decision to switch which project I was working on and it has been the best decision I made so far this month. I have really been enjoying writing again and look forward to seeing where my characters and story go next. Though I don’t have a full outline for this book, I feel confident with how things are going so far. When the time comes I will take a bit of time to plan things out beyond the point I have at the moment in the partial outline. On this day, I managed to write 3137 words.

Day 5

I started this day eager to write, I couldn’t get to the computer fast enough. In fact, I hustled through my morning routine just to get to writing. There is something about this story that makes me excited. It’s quite a bit different than what I normally write, but I think stepping outside of my writing comfort zone is a good idea. In what felt like no time at all, I had added 4418 words to my total.

Day 6

There were plenty of distractions this day. So, I found myself picking away at my writing, here and there, throughout the day. While I tend to work best when I can sit down for a solid chunk of writing, the fact I 963 words was pretty awesome. It can be disappointing on days when I don’t reach ned necessary word count goal, but as long as I am adding words that is all that matters.

Day 7

This day flew by. One moment I was just getting out of bed and the next it was bedtime again. I don’t even remember all that I did. In the end, I did manage to get some writing done, adding 524 words to my total.

Day 8

I’ll be honest. I didn’t really feel like writing this day. I was feeling lazy. Days like this happen sometimes. In fact, I took the vast majority of the day off, not even thinking about writing. Then just before going to bed, I decided to open up my word doc and give it a try. In very little time I was able to write 866 words. Not too bad for not wanting to write.

Day 9

A nice rainy day was the perfect chance to get a nice chunk of writing done. Or at least that was the plan. Truth be told, I got a little caught up in the desire to do some spring cleaning. It’s that time of year when the weather is warming up and thus it’s also time for a good cleaning inside and out of the home. Despite being busy, I did manage to write 1069 words.

Day 10

This was another busy day but I wasn’t about to let that stop me from writing. I did manage to find a little bit of time to sit down and write. While I would have liked to have written some more, I can’t complain about the 607 written.

That brings the first full week of Camp NaNoWriMo to an end. It started off strong and slowed down a bit at the end, but I am happy with my progress. My current word count to 22963, which is a decent chunk ahead of where I need to be at this point.

I hope you enjoyed my April 2021 Camp NaNoWriMo week 2 update. Are you writing this month?
